Treatment for back pain varies widely based on the underlying cause.  A detailed history regarding the severity of the pain, affected areas, and factors which worsen or alleviate the pain, along with a thorough physical examination is done to confirm the diagnosis. Conservative (non-surgical) treatment is applied whenever possible, supplemented by spine surgery when indicated.
