Dr. Alexander is a Board Certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and joint replacement surgery. A graduate of Washington and Lee University in Virginia, he received his M.D. from Vanderbilt University. In 1987, he completed his orthopaedic residency at the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, South Carolina. In 1988, he completed a combined fellowship in joint replacement surgery and sports medicine, the former at New England Baptist Hospital and the latter at Children's Hospital, both in Boston. Dr. Alexander was one of the founding physicians for the Joint Center at Huntsville Hospital East.

Dr. Black has a General Practice of Orthopaedic Surgery, so that he evaluates all types of bone and joint problems. His special interests are in reconstruction of the upper extremity, hip and lower extremity in adults utilizing arthroscopic, open and joint replacement surgery, as indicated.
Dr. Black holds a B.S. from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and received his M.D. degree from the Medical College of Alabama, Birmingham. After completing an Internship in Surgery and Medicine at University Hospital and Hillman Clinics in Birmingham, Dr. Black completed service in the United States Air Force. Upon completing specialty training in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Jacksonville Hospital and the College of Medicine at the University of Florida, he entered private practice in Huntsville in 1970. Dr. Black has attended post graduate courses in arthroscopy and total joint surgery.
At present he is serving on the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society. He spearheads the development and continuous enhancement of SportsMED’s electronic medical record and digital radiology systems. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in Surgery for the University of Alabama School of Medicine program in Huntsville.

Dr. Culpepper is an experienced orthopaedist with an interest in sports medicine and joint replacement surgery. He is a graduate of Davidson College. He received his M.D. from the University of Mississippi. He completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Mississippi which included an AO trauma fellowship in Davos, Switzerland with specific study of fracture care. He continued his training in Carticel’s cartilage transplant technique and is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Culpepper holds professional affiliation with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons as well as regional and local orthopaedic and medical societies. He serves as team physician for several local high schools.

Dr. Franklin graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He received his Medical Degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, AL in 2003. After completing his orthopaedic residency at the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, SC in 2008, he completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Dr. Franklin is a native of Huntsville and attended Grissom High School. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is on the active staff at Crestwood Hospital and the Surgery Center of Huntsville.

Dr. Higginbotham specializes in the practice of general orthopaedics with special interest in knee, hip, and elbow joint replacement. Other areas of special interest include shoulder, knee arthroscopy, and carpal tunnel surgeries. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1972. During his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, he served as chief resident. He is Board Certified and holds fellowship status in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. His many years of clinical and surgical experience is enriched by the numerous professional associations he holds. He currently serves as Chairperson of the Physician Advisory Board of Blue Cross/Blue Shield P.M.D. and is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the UAB Clinical Center in Huntsville.

Dr. Tindell received a B.S. in Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of Tennessee and an M.D. from the University of Tennessee in Memphis. A portion of his undergraduate training took place at West Point. He has practiced orthopaedic medicine since 1987 receiving specialized training in Orthopaedic Surgery with Dr. Rocco A. Calandruccio at the Campbell Clinic. Dr. Tindell is Board Certified and serves as team physician for several local high schools and as a board member for United Cerebral Palsy. He maintains numerous professional affiliations.
