SHOULDER CONDITIONS AND INJURIES

The shoulder is a complex joint that connects the clavicle (collarbone), scapula (shoulder blade), and humerus (upper arm bone). A group of muscles and tendons, called the rotator cuff, surround the shoulder joint and keep the head of the humerus firmly within the shoulder socket. The labrum is a cup-shaped rim of cartilage that lines and reinforces the ball and socket joint. The shoulder has the greatest range of motion of any joint, but it is also the least stable and most vulnerable to injury.
